1. I had no idea this is how they grew (not sure how I thought they grew, but for some reason I was surprised to see it was like this. Though it makes sense).
2. I always thought it was “brussel sprouts” not “brussels sprouts.”
Today was a learning day.
Dear Tumblr Staff,
I think if you knew me and knew how awesome this brunch was, you would invite me to your offices to make it for you. (Also, I have been developing a lava brownie passion fruit thing. It’s like, really incredible. I could bring it.)
I live in the hood and we could be one of those great stories where you find me reaching out and I make you delicious things you love and we all brag about it later. Check out the menu here and the specific Thanksgiving Plate Cakelettes (aka Turkey Cupcakes pictured above) here.
I made cookies for Newsweek when I was still working at MTV, so clearly I’m legit (I believe they’re all alive and kicking). Lemme know what you think! I’m hitting refresh and staring at my dashboard.
Lately random friends and family members of mine have been telling me they read my blog regularly. This makes me smile because sometimes I forget that people know I blog here. So to those of you who read this and have wondered where I have been this last week, here you go. I have been launching part of a new project called fêtette. We will have a store in early 2012, but for now have launched the blog/social aspect. I made a super fun Thanksgiving Birthday Brunch (turkey cupcakes, anyone?) to kick us off.
If you are looking at livelaughlovenyc directly, hover on the edge of the photo above and click the left or right arrows. You’ll see a lot more deliciousness. Please check it out when you can! xo

I made the Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 1999 No. 13 dress from a large cupcake mold, a doll named Michelle, food coloring and a batch of homemade buttercream icing. (Click on the arrows to the left and right of the above image for other photos).
There are a MILLION things I would do to improve this, but it was a fun gift to create for someone I knew would appreciate the effort despite the actual look of it. Note: the amount of time I spent making and decorating this cake is pretty comical. (I look at the photos and think, wait really? This took me all day?!)
It is Wade’s birthday and he loves Alexander McQueen. So I tried. I will make this again and do better next time! Here’s the runway show where the original dress was created:
