Grand Central Terminal turned 100 years old yesterday!
I live-tweeted the morning’s spectacular event for Arts for Transit. The celebration included music, poetry, speeches and memories. Caroline Kennedy read part of a letter her mom, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, wrote to then-Mayor Abe Beam in 1975 urging him to save Grand Central Terminal from demolition. (I wish I transcribed Caroline Kennedy’s reading of the letter because it was beautiful and stirring, and I’ve yet to find the text online.)
Thankfully, Grand Central Terminal still stands. I love this building. It takes my breath away every time I visit.

Sunset light on NYC buildings. Swoon.
Pop Up Chapel was 24 celebrations of marriage equality in Central Park on July 30th, 2011. A gift to NYC from a group of incredible people, The Knot, and a host of other sponsors and supporters. It was a day to remember. Click on the photo to go to my Flickr site and see the complete set. Or watch a slideshow.
