A Love-in-Transit Story: After-Hours Proposal
“With NY now recognizing same sex marriage, I secretly planned a proposal to my girlfriend Jen.  I tricked her into thinking we won a weekend getaway and blindfolded her once we got into our car and left our UES apartment at 3am. We entered Grand Central through a tunnel from a parking garage (still blindfolded) and at 3:37am I walked her out into the main concourse right by the clock where we met for the first time on a blind date almost a year and a half before. At this time of the day, we literally had ALL of Grand Central to ourselves! I began to play the song “Marry Me” by Train, slowly took off her blindfold and went down on one knee to propose!  Jen was shocked at where we were! She said YES and we stood there holding each other under the stars, kissing, laughing and taking in the entire scene.  Once our song ended, I signaled to our 8 family members who I had hiding on the West stairway near Cipriani Dolce to come down and join us and surprise Jen even more.  We all joined together for a champagne toast under the clock… all while still having the entire Grand Central Terminal all to ourselves!”
